  • Louella Edwards-Frye , MSN, APRN, FNP-C,
    PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER

It is an honor and a privilege to introduce our Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Louella Edwards, MSN,  APRN, FNP-C, here at Helpmates Telehealth and House-call Services. We thank all our providers for their dedicated service to various communities and cultures across lifespans. I am also thankful for each one of you who has chosen to partner in care with us. We recognize the magnitude of choices you have when selecting a provider or telehealth service. We are committed to gaining, keeping, and honoring your trust to provide outstanding professional, quality, patient-centered support for you and your loved ones.
Nurse Practitioner (NP) Edwards shared that her college career began in computer engineering courses and soon switched to nursing. Maybe, one day, if she gets to answer your call, she can tell you that story. Before becoming a certified nurse, NP Edwards worked as a private duty caregiver in her hometown while studying nursing. She also worked at Lebonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis, TN, in their Neurology & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. While at Lebonheur, NP Edwards served in various roles, including unit secretary and student nurse assistant. During this time in healthcare, she learned the art and significance of professional communication and collaboration and building a caring relationship with patients and their families.
Once becoming a registered nurse, Nurse Practitioner Edwards spent over two years in home health care with Baptist Trinity and Home Healthcare of West Tennessee. In-home health, she devoted her time as a nurse and patient advocate, building trusting relationships with her patients and families. Eight years of her healthcare career have been in inpatient, acute care settings with companies such as Baptist Memorial Healthcare, Methodist Healthcare, and the Tenet Healthcare systems. During these years, she developed her expertise in treating and supporting chronic conditions such as Heart Failure, Stroke, COPD, Asthma, and Diabetes. She once served on the Shared Governance Committee at Methodist Healthcare in Memphis, TN, where she assisted in developing several successful nurse-illustrated patient education videos. Those videos increased patient satisfaction and decreased the frequency of readmissions for chronic illnesses.
Her career in healthcare includes adult and pediatric care as well as maternity care. She has assisted patients and their families both in and outside of hospital settings with everything from education and care of tracheostomies, wounds, and ventilation systems to medication and safety management. After completing her Master's degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing, she now serves as a primary care Family Nurse Practitioner. She volunteers as medical staff at her local church when she is not traveling. As an FNP, she performs at the Holistic Family Health clinic. NP Edwards recently returned from completing a very rewarding humanitarian-effort assignment in the great state of California alongside some of the most talented doctors and practitioners. That assignment blessed both those they served and the healthcare professionals.
Helpmates care service recognizes that being a healthcare provider is not always easy. Health professionals face many challenges willingly and selflessly because they have the heart to serve. NP Edwards states, 'Nursing has never been a job for me.', 'I truly enjoy being a vessel to offer the gift of care and hope to our community.' Her love of nursing runs deep, and she is committed to serving the community. Healthcare is ever-changing; therefore, Nurse Practitioner Edwards has dedicated herself to being a lifelong student of learning. Here at Helpmates, we are committed to staying abreast of the latest innovative technology that offers the safest and best evidence-based care outcomes.
Helpmates Telehealth and House-call Services are honored to offer Nurse Practitioner Edwards combined years of home health, acute care, and primary care experience to support our community. As your partner in care, we are committed to helping you take control of your health.
